Salt Air - Cape Reinga Fly & Drive 1/2 Day Tour

Salt Air’s Cape Reinga Fly/Drive ½ day tour by aeroplane is the alternative way to travel to the top of New Zealand to experience its beauty, history and scenery from both the air and on land, with the added bonus of avoiding a long road trip if you are short on time.
This superb tour flies from the Bay of Islands heading north and over 90 mile beach where you land at our private airstrip near Cape Reinga to enjoy a guided vehicle tour to visit the light house. The return flight follows the beautiful east coast down to the Bay of Islands.

Mullarkey Tours

Mullarkey Tours offers a range of tours enabling visitors in the Bay of Islands to truly enjoy our backyard. These tours vary between Wine, Glow Worms, History, and plenty of sight seeing.

  • The Bay of Islands Wine, Spirit, and Craft Beer Tour first stops at Marsden Estate in Kerikeri, followed by the Phat House Brewery in Haruru Falls, then lastly Bad Habits over in Paihia. The tour starts at 12:30pm and is 4 hours long (approx.).

  • The Kawiti Glow Worm Caves, Hundertwasser Exhibition Centre & Opua Forest Walk Tour first stops at the Kawiti Glow Worm Caves where a local Maori guide will explain the life cycle of the New Zealand Glow worm. Then a short drive to Kawakawa to check out the world-famous Hundertwasser Toilets as well as the new Hundertwasser Cultural Centre. Finally, you will head off to the Opua Forest for a nice walk through Kaur Trees that are over 1000 years old.

  • There is a Shore Excursion to Historic Kerikeri which is approximately a five hour tour and includes lunch as well! Your first stop is at Rainbow Falls, followed by Makana Chocolate Factory to have a little nibble on some samples. You will then move on to the Kerikeri Mission Station where you will enjoy a guided tour through the historical sites. The last stop of the day will be will be the Waitangi look-out Loop.

  • The Cape Reinga and Ninety Mile Beach Tour is a whole day trip that includes lunch as well! It departs at 7:30am and you will be guided by knowledgeable and humorous tour leaders.
