Giants and Glow Worms
Travel to the Hokianga and meet your local Māori guide, then venture into the ancient Waipoua Kauri Forest for an unforgettable encounter. Learn about life in the forest and hear Māori waiata (songs), myths and legends as your guide takes you on an intimate journey through nature and explains how the lives of local Māori are intertwined with the forest. The Waipoua forest is home to some of the most significant kauri trees still standing. Te Matua Ngahere (The Father of the Forest) is estimated to be between 2,500 and 3,000 years old, with a girth of 16 metres, while The Four Sisters are a graceful collection of kauri that have grown close together in sibling harmony.

Rent a Boat / Bike
What better way to spend a day in the Bay of Islands than on the water! Enjoy a days fishing on our self drive boats or try out our small and easy to sail catamarans. If you’ve never tried sailing before we can book you a short lesson to get you going. We’ve also got row boats, with or without outboards which are ideal for fishing. The self-drive boat is 15ft and powered by a 50hp Mercury two stroke outboard and is available for 1/2 day, full day and longer hires. Ideal for fishing or cruising for a picnic or BBQ with friends and family. Safety gear includes a mobile/cell phone waterproof bag, life jackets and an emergency auxiliary outboard. All included in our hire price.

We can pick you up in Paihia and take you to Kaikohe, where we fit you out with bike and helmet drop you off at the start of the trail and pick you up at the end or you can come directly to our Base at 88 Te Pua Road Kaikohe. You set the pace.
